Noteforge Sheet Music Templates

This set of cover templates for Noteforge’s music compositions was an interesting challenge. While the client needed a design that was eye-catching on digital marketplaces, it also needed to look great when the end user was printing it themselves. We ended up creating two templates—a full color version for special editions and digital, and a simpler illustrated design that would look great even without borderless printing. Both designs used the client’s existing logo and fonts so they could tie in with established branding, but introduced a new color palette inspired by hot metal.

The digital edition was created by combining a stock photo of a blacksmith with a 3D music note in Photoshop, resulting in a realistic depiction of the brand name. This image will also be carried over to other aspects of the client’s branding, such as social media headers.

The print-friendly version was inspired by the creative brief, which described Noteforge as a “musical workshop.” The illustration features a grinder on a worktable that looks like a music note, a lathe carving a guitar, a fiery forge, a trumpet, a piano, some blacksmiths’s tools and a flute on the wall, and of course the same anvil and music note from the logo.
